A small gesture,
in two or three steps.
The mechanics are simple. The intention is what matters: turning a private feeling of gratitude into a tangible gesture which leaves a permanent memory and prompts one to propagate further the joy received.
- 01
Receive and accept a Joie
You receive an alert (via email today) to open one's porteJoie and see a Joie waiting to be accepted or refused.
Accepted, the Joie leaves its effigy and message as a permanent trace and becomes available for further transmission.
- 02
Pass it along
Send it onward to recognize someone else in turn — a friend, a colleague, a stranger you wish to thank — together with a short personal message. It enters the porteJoie of the recipient, creating it if need be, and sends an alert. The chain extends by one link.
- 01
Subscribe to get the rights to issue a Joie
For each Joie to be issued, you contribute one euro to our reserve fund. The fund is permanent — your contribution stays there to fund the free circulation of the Joie.
Note you can give away your subscription rights to another person.
- 02
Choose its effigy
The Joie to be issued carries this image into the world, the face of a late person you wish to honor: a loved one, a public figure, a quiet hero; or a place or a value.
You may choose it among the public catalog available on your porteJoie.
Or you can suggest a new effigy to add to it.
Or you can create one for your exclusive usage. A so-called private effigy may be further limited to your intended recipients and act as a medal. As the Joies which bear it are passed along by your recipients, the effigy will be changed into a default.
Before defining a private effigy, please look up its format:
To get a private effigy, you need to subscribe at least 100 issuance rights.
- 03
Issue it, with a few words, to the recipient you want to recognize
By using a subscription right available to you, you issue a Joie with this effigy and an appropriate message to the recipient. This is the first link in a new chain.
If the effigy is private and limited, only the recipients to whom you send such a Joie will be able to save and show this effigy: for them, the Joie you send is a medal.
A small object with a big idea.
A Joie is a virtual token bearing an effigy to honor a late person, a place or a value, identified by a unique number, sealed with a personal message.
It lives in your porteJoie — your personal wallet — until you decide to send it onward. But you will always keep the memory of its passage: its effigy and the message it carried.
It cannot be sold. It cannot be traded for goods. Its only purpose is to be given — to recognize, to thank, to remember.
Less reward, more recognition.
Most digital tokens reward behaviour or measure performance. Joies do neither. They mark a moment of gratitude — quietly, deliberately, and outside any commercial system. The funds collected are kept in reserve to provide for the free circulation of the Joies; no one profits materially from the gesture, but its psychological benefits to both giver and receiver can be immensely valuable.
It is not a market. It is a symbol.
