Private effigies

Format of a
private effigy.

Before you order a private effigy, here is what you will be asked to provide. Read through and prepare the elements — it makes the process simple.

The six fields

What goes into an effigy.

Name
For a deceased person, the format is first name last name (e.g. Jean-Pierre Joussemet). For a place or a value, a short description (e.g. Village of Saint Victurnien, Sprig of lily-of-the-valley).
Date of birth
Format dd/mm/yyyy. Applicable only when the effigy honours a person. Not required if the date is uncertain.
Date of death
Format dd/mm/yyyy. Required when the effigy honours the memory of a deceased person.
Image
A file in .jpg format — a portrait of the deceased, a coat of arms, a photograph of the place, or a symbolic representation. Portrait orientation works best in the porteJoie display.
You must hold the rights to the image, and the image must not belong to a protected organisation.
Comment
For a person, a short biography. For a place, a brief description. For a value, a concise definition. Limited to 500 characters.
Circulation
You choose between permanent circulation (the effigy stays on every Joie it bears as the chain extends) and limited circulation (the effigy stays only for the first recipients you send to — those Joies become medals; afterwards they revert to the default Jean-Pierre Joussemet effigy).
Cost

A minimum of 100 issuance rights.

Creating a private effigy requires you to subscribe at least 100 issuance rights (i.e. €100), so that you have a meaningful stock of Joies bearing your effigy. The contribution goes to the reserve fund, like any other subscription.
